Back in 2008 Reef Hobbyist Magazine published an article on a chalice that Lou Schiavo of WWC acquired. That article made the BBGM chalice overnight famous. This is long before any of the red rainbow type chalices were discovered that exist today. If you haven't read the article click here to view. After the article was published a hobbyist friend of mine that goes by the handle Chromilux called Lou at WWC. Unfortunately he didn't have any available at the time however he kept calling every couple weeks. His persistence paid off. A couple months later when one become available Lou contacted him and made arrangement to ship it. It was a single eye that cost $350 which at the time was unheard of for a coral. Chromilux was happy to receive it and hosted our local reef club meeting at his house to show it off. We all gathered around his tank in awe. Some over the bright coral coloration and others at the price paid for the single eye sized fragment. About a year went by and it had grown enough where I could acquire a frag from him. Now 13 years and many generations later with lineage back to original it is still going strong.
