Rasta Zoas
Rasta Zoas have been jammin’ in reef tanks since at least 2010, and with red, yellow and green packed into every polyp, the Jamaican influence isn’t exactly hiding. Fifteen years later, they’re still one of the most recognizable zoas in the hobby.
One thing we’ve learned growing Rastas is they like more light than most zoas. We keep ours around 200-250 PAR, where the colors really come alive. Turn up the lights and let the reef keep jammin’.

We recommend starting the Rasta Zoas in the 100 - 200 PAR range.
Flow — Moderate
Moderate
Provide Moderate variable flow that keeps detritus from settling on the Zoas. Avoid constant direct current from the same direction in favor of random chaotic water movement.
Placement — Island
Placement of your Rasta Zoas is one of the most important decisions.
This is where you’ll have to take lighting, flow, future growth and nearby corals into consideration.
Since it prefers 100 - 200 PAR range it will need to be mounted Island on your rock work depending on your light intensity.
Allow room for its Matting growth form, and consider neighboring coral colors and shape. When possible, use contrasting corals such as red next to green, blue next to orange, or yellow next to purple, and mix growth forms such as tall branching corals next to plating or encrusting corals.
