JF Freak Hair Pavona (Full Plug!)

Think of the JF Freak Hair Pavona as the reef’s punk-rock stylist — a low, broad encruster with a wild neon hairdo. At rest it’s a magenta-to-purple carpet of stony tissue; when the little hair-like polyps flare you get bright splash of  yellow/orange that look like a tiny, furious mohawk waving in the current. It’s one of those corals that makes you double-take: from a distance its texture and color, up close it’s a tiny riot of fuzzy tentacles and sculpted skeleton.
