Lazy's Coral House

Lazy Daisies Clove Polyps (LCH Favorite!)

Lazy Daisies Clove Polyps (LCH Favorite!)

Lazy Daisies is a pipe organ coral that resembles a bouquet of daisies with white feather like tentacles and green center. It is an easy coral to keep that doesn’t need much light. 50-100 par is recommended with moderate flow. They can do really well and look best at 200-300 par however they can’t handle any algae. So if your tank stays clear of fibrous algae such as hair algae. Then go for higher light. If not, and you occasionally get algae, then keep it lower light to reduce the chances of it developing between the polyps and choking it out. Under higher light the polyps are super white and they look amazing!

(Tubipora musica) This species is a soft coral with a hard skeleton of calcium carbonate that contains many pipe like tubes. On each tube is a series of polyps which each have eight feather-like tentacles. These tentacles are extended during the day, but will swiftly withdraw with any sort of disturbance.

Flow — Moderate

Moderate
Provide Moderate variable flow that keeps detritus from settling on the Cloves Polyps. Avoid constant direct current from the same direction in favor of random chaotic water movement.

Placement — Lower to Mid level

Placement of your Lazy Daisies Clove Polyps is one of the most important decisions.
This is where you’ll have to take lighting, flow, future growth and nearby corals into consideration.
Since it prefers 125 - 200 PAR range it will need to be mounted Lower to Mid level on your rock work depending on your light intensity.
Allow room for its Encrusting growth form, and consider neighboring coral colors and shape. When possible, use contrasting corals such as red next to green, blue next to orange, or yellow next to purple, and mix growth forms such as tall branching corals next to plating or encrusting corals.
