Utter Chaos Zoas - Full Plug!

Utter Chaos Zoas - Full Plug!

Utter Chaos Zoas — These are the brightest zoanthids we cultivate.

They are easy to keep with stable water and routine maintenance. They spread by encrusting the plug and adjacent rock, so give room on the rockwork to expand without immediate contact with smother corals

Moderate light suits these zoas. Start them lower in the tank if your system runs very high PAR and move up over 2–3 weeks.

Flow — Low to Moderate

Low to Moderate

Provide gentle, variable flow that keeps detritus from settling on the Zoas. Avoid constant direct blasts; periodic pulses that cause the polyps to move are ideal. Too little flow lets debris collect and too much can keep polyps closed.

Placement — Mid to Lower Rockwork

Place on open rock where the Utter Chaos can spread. Mid to lower positions work well in most systems; move higher only if your tank lighting is low. Leave a couple inches between the plug and slower neighboring corals to allow the zoas to expand.

Flow — Moderate

Moderate
Provide Moderate variable flow that keeps detritus from settling on the Zoas. Avoid constant direct current from the same direction in favor of random chaotic water movement.

Placement — Island

Placement of your Utter Chaos Zoas is one of the most important decisions.
This is where you’ll have to take lighting, flow, future growth and nearby corals into consideration.
Since it prefers 100 - 200 PAR range it will need to be mounted Island on your rock work depending on your light intensity.
Allow room for its Matting growth form, and consider neighboring coral colors and shape. When possible, use contrasting corals such as red next to green, blue next to orange, or yellow next to purple, and mix growth forms such as tall branching corals next to plating or encrusting corals.
