Vamps in Drag Zoas are hard to describe without sounding like you’re making up colors. Is it gold, bronze, orange, maybe a little peach? We’ve stared at them long enough and still can’t quite decide. Their icy blue to lavender faces have a warm gold color bursting out from the dark center, and that’s where the other name, Solar Flares, starts making a lot more sense.
They’ve been passed around the hobby under both names for years. Vamps in Drag or Solar Flares—we may not agree on the color, but apparently we can’t agree on the name either.

Flow — Moderate
Provide Moderate variable flow that keeps detritus from settling on the Zoas. Avoid constant direct current from the same direction in favor of random chaotic water movement.
Placement — Island
Placement of your Vamps in Drag Zoas is one of the most important decisions.
This is where you’ll have to take lighting, flow, future growth and nearby corals into consideration.
Since it prefers 100 - 200 PAR range it will need to be mounted Island on your rock work depending on your light intensity.
Allow room for its Matting growth form, and consider neighboring coral colors and shape. When possible, use contrasting corals such as red next to green, blue next to orange, or yellow next to purple, and mix growth forms such as tall branching corals next to plating or encrusting corals.
